Text Sources
Text sources are best for internal manuals, brand guidelines, or specific information (like an “About Us” page) that isn't hosted online.
Best Practices
Be Direct
Use clear, declarative sentences. Instead of "We try to respond quickly," write "Our response time is under 2 hours."
Use Formatting
Use Markdown headers (#, ##) to separate topics. This helps the AI understand the hierarchy of your information.
Remove "Fluff"
Delete marketing jargon that doesn't add factual value. Focus on the "Who, What, Where, and How."
Clean the Data
Ensure there are no broken symbols or unusual spacing from PDF-to-text conversions before uploading.
When to use
Text sources work best for content that changes rarely - policies, onboarding materials, or product specs. For frequently updated content, prefer a URL source so it stays in sync automatically.
